City Catholic school marks celebration

NORWICH -- St. Joseph School in Norwich celebrated Catholic Schools Week with a variety of events last week. Throughout the week, students competed in a "Penny Brigade" with students bringing change in for their classroom containers.

The school raised more than $700 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Students also made Valentine's Day-themed placemats for the St. Vincent de Paul soup kitchen. Thursday, the older classes worked with the younger class on bookmarks to be sent to a school in New Orleans that recently reopened in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
