About The Alumni Committee

The Alumni Committee currently is responsible for the alumni newsletter (From the Wings) and upkeep of the alumni database

The committee also recently organized a year-long celebration for the school's 100th Anniversary that included a kick-off picnic and concluded with an All Classes Reunion, Anniversary Mass, and Open House for the 2008-2009 school year!

Alumni Newsletter

The Alumni Committee strives to create two or three newsletters per year (August edition, Christmas/December edition, and an Easter edition).

The December 2009 edition was put on hold due to financial constraints.

Lost Alumni

With one hundred years of history, the committee is constantly at work to find lost alumni!  Over the years, the database has fallen into disarray.  We strive to repair the "holes" in our alumni records.  Some of the missing information include: names of graduates, maiden names of the ladies, graduation years, and even current mailing addresses.  If you (or someone you know) are a graduate of the school and do not receive the alumni newsletter, please contact the school because you may be one of our lost alumni!

HELP OUR SCHOOL!

As has been the fate of St. Mary's School in Jewett City two years ago and Plainfield Catholic School in Plainfield and Moosup last year, St. Joseph School suddenly finds itself under the microscope of the Diocese of Norwich.  In January, a committee met silently to discuss the financial well-being of the school.  In February, the Superintendent met with faculty, staff, and parents to share the "news" that the school owes the Diocese nearly $300,000.  Without viable fundraising suggestions by the end of the month, the school will be the next in the Diocese to close.  At that time, the school was told the decision would be made within a few weeks.  There are a lot of unanswered questions... Feel free to read more about it in The Norwich Bulletin article posted February 16, 2010.
